Assessment #3

Wow, so I’ve learned a fair bit over the past 11 lessons of MPI104. The first lesson must’ve been on Blogger. I’m starting to enjoy Blogger a little bit and haven’t minded getting on and posting lately. It’s so easy. Flickr is the next on the list and I’m starting to like it a lot too. It’s also really easy to work with and its amazing to look at everyone else’s favourite photos. I wasn’t a big fan of delicious at first. I did find it easy to use but I couldn’t really see the point as im not real big on bookmarking my favourite sites because if thy’re my favourite then I know them anyway. However, ive come to like it as its a good way of looking at what other people like. HTML’s were a struggle at first when it came to remembering codes but I definitely think that ive got posting links to the masterblog sorted. Still a bit surprised at how easy it is to make a real simple website just through notepad or textedit. CSS is good for making it easy to make all parts that are the same, the same style eg. Heading or paragraph. I like playing around with iweb and actually enjoyed assignment 2 because of it. Its so easy to use with its ready made templates that just have to be customised. File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a standard network protocol used to copy a file from one host to another over a TCP/IP-based network, such as the Internet. And finally there was RSS (Really Simple Syndication) - the new way of bookmarking a website. But better. It allows you to get up to date information sent to you to read when you want to. It is often described as a ‘news feed’ that you subscribe to.
Overall, I have really enjoyed this class. It was actually a joy to attend unlike some of the other stressful classes I have....

Week 11 - RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is the new way of bookmarking a website. but better. with bookmarking you can miss information if you dont check the bookmark and  can get complicated with many websites. RSS is better because it allows you to get up to date information sent to you to read when you want to. It is often described as a ‘news feed’ that you subscribe to.

3 assignments + 1 exam = holidays

Yep thats right. There is only 3 assignments and 1 exam standing between me and my 4 weeks of holidays. Thank god my one and only exam is 3 days into the exam week. Hopefully my holidays will consist of a lot of working and MONEY!!
But
My ideal holiday destinations would include:

Brazil
Egypt
Africa
Ireland

I pretty much want to go everywhere. I have already been to:

Basically all around Australia
Vietnam
Japan

My Website - Assignment #2

For my website I decided to make up a pretend Urban music festival – “ Urban Beatz”. I was inspired to make a website about this having gone to Supafest in April (an urban music festival), and hoping to go to Winterbeatz in August.
I picked the freestyle template in Iweb for my site because I liked the rough texture and street feel about it. I tried to personalise this template by moving down the links bar, changing the layout positioning of the text and photos, changing the font and the text colour. I wanted to try and make my website look genuine so I found a logo on the internet and added colour (sticking to my red theme colour) and altered the text to suit my site.
I left ticket info out of the site because the Supafest site didn’t display much ticket info, instead referring you to ticketek. I also followed the Supafest site in the way that they did not announce all artists at once instead left you waiting for weeks for the next announcement. I’ve also made my site to suit this in the way that the photos at the moment are only of the five artists that have been announced but the idea is that as more are announced the photos can be changed until eventually there is only one photo of each artist.
I’ve already picked up a good response to my site having showed some friends without saying I’d made it and receiving disappointed comments when I tell them it’s not real. My only concern is that I haven’t altered the template enough. I would’ve maybe liked to have change the background so it was a bit more different to the template but overall I’m fairly happy with my site.

Music

I've re-discovered my love for urban music lately ever since i went to SUPAFEST in April. I got to see: Keri Hilson, Bow Wow, Ciara, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Snoop Dog, T-Pain, and Game. Pretty excited for WINTERBEATZ in August, 4 days after my bday! Shall be one of the best bday presents ever.

Week 9 - FTP (file transfer protocol)

So i'm not 100% sure on this FTP thing. But apparently it is:

Week 8 - IWEB, Making a website in iWeb

I pretty much love iweb. its sooo much easier than having to do html coding. and it looks so much more professional. I like how its all just there in templates and you just have to change styles and themes to customize it to suit your site.

Week 7 - more HTML and CSS

pretty sure i should be refusing to post anymore after watching cuddle sticks but.... css is pretty good at making it easier to make all parts eg. text paragraphs the same style. It makes more sense than having to do each bit individually.

Week 6 - HTML

I was interested in how html coding can be done in notepad or textedit. Ive found out that im not very good at remembering the codes and struggle just connecting links to the masterblog. fairly sure that its even harder today because im hungover and i have no brain cells left.

I added gadgets to the left hand side and bottom of my blog, these included things about me, my flickr photos, my friends blogs, the daily puppy and a calendar. I used the ethereal template and customised it to suit me. I used an abstract image for my background because I really abstract patterns. I also used a picture off the internet to use as my heading background because I think it matched my background image I also really liked the colours in it. I used greens as my theme colours because it’s my favourite colour. I used fonts like cherry cream soda, kranky, chewy and coming soon because I liked the casual feel they have.

I only commented on one Blog and that was Kate Bishops and for some reason its saying that her blog has been removed so I can’t include a link to that comment anymore.

I added lots of extra gadgets to my blog. I tried to fill my blogs with some fun stuff as well as some things to do with myself and my course (graphic design)
